War Decree is really starting to stamp his mark with a winner during the Melbourne Cup Carnival he is absolutely flying as a sire . This boy is out of a High Chaparral mare Prized Gem, Nom Du Jeu there is plenty to like about his pedigree page. He will now be gelded and have three or four weeks off to recover.

He has already been taught how to gallop competitively so he will be taken through to the jumpouts and trials in this next preparation. He is bred to go over ground, a very tidy looking horse that should have a late 2 year old race - he is a derby horse in the making and maybe one that could make the trip over the ditch.

About The Yearling Filly by Reliable Man out of Scene Queen - “Raquel”

Definite Middle Distance/Staying type of Filly.

Lot 979 – the Yearling Filly by the proven Stallion RELIABLE MAN out of SCENE QUEEN (By Redoute’s Choice) has been acquired by the David Ellis/Fortuna Racing combination from the 2023 NZ Bloodstock National Yearling Sale – this after the Te Akau Selection Team of David Ellis, Mark Walker and Marcus Corban had conducted their normal thorough pre sale inspections.

Mark Walker, when doing his usual pre sale Video clip inspections, had identified this Filly as a “genuine middle distance/staying type”.

    Pedigree
Raquel is the beneficiary of a stout pedigree. Her Sire, Reliable Man was a top class Stayer, winning five times from 14 starts at trips from 2000 to 2400m – he won twice at Group One level, firstly at Chantilly in France and then at Royal Randwick in Sydney, where he won the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, defeating Dundeel. He is the Sire of over 370 winners, including 20 Stakes winners. These include the Victorian Oaks winner, Miami Bound, the NZ Oaks winner, Miss Sentimental and the Western Austrian glamour Mare, Inspirational Girl.

Raquel’s Dam is Scene Queen, a daughter of the renowned Champion Stallion and Broodmare Sire, Redoute’s Choice. She raced 3 times without winning and is the dam of five foals to race, four of whom have won, including the very smart Steven Autridge trained 3yo, Helly Belly, who has now won 2 races from 6 starts.

    Physical type
A powerful, athletic Filly of good size, “Raquel” is physically correct, has a lovely temperament, has a strong athletic walk and passed her pre sale Vet exam without issue – Click HERE to her parading Pre Sale

    Syndicator’s view (John Galvin)
“At the 2022 Sale we had acquired a lovely Reliable Man Filly – given the race name , Matariki, unfortunately she suffered a severe paddock accident and had to be put down – determined to find a suitable replacement, our selection team of David Ellis, Mark Walker and Marcus Corban identified Lot 979, also by Reliable Man and out of a Redoutes Choice Mare, as one of the nicest staying type Grey Fillies out of both Book 1 and Book 2 and, remarkably, we secured her for the same price as Matariki.”

    Trainer’s view (Mark Walker)
“Asked by John Galvin to find a nice staying type Grey Filly, there was nothing in Book 1 that appealed, however Lot 979 in Book 2 really caught my eye – an athletic Filly of good size and with plenty of scope, her walk was very fluent and she really appealed to me. She will certainly benefit with a patient approach but I could see her as an Autumn 2yo who will develop and strengthen nicely into her 3yo year and beyond.”

    Selectors view (Marcus Corban)
“This Filly is a typical strong Reliable Man type – she has a great athletic walk and plenty of size and scope – Reliable Man is a renowned Sire of stayers and this cross with a Redoute’s Choice mare injects class and speed into her pedigree page – this Filly represents great value at her acquisition price.”

    Ongoing Preparation
Raquel is now spelling at Te Akau Stud in the Waikato ahead of being broken in (estimate commencement mid March) and will then be prepared for racing at Matamata by nine time Premiership winning Trainer, Mark Walker of Te Akau Racing Stables – her first preparation will be short (2 – 3 weeks) – she will then have a further paddock spell to enable further growth and maturity and David and Mark will assess her in the Spring of 2023 in order to map out an ongoing trials/race plan for her.

About The Yearling Filly by Eminent out of Queen Boudicca - “Queenie”

    Definite Staying/Oaks type of Filly.

Lot 446 – the Yearling Filly by the Stallion EMINENT out of QUEEN BOUDICCA (By Perfectly Ready) has been acquired by the David Ellis/Fortuna Racing combination from the 2023 NZ Bloodstock National Yearling Sale – this after the Te Akau Selection Team of David Ellis, Mark Walker and Marcus Corban had conducted their normal thorough pre sale inspections.

Mark Walker, when doing his usual pre sale Video clip inspections, had identified this Filly as a “genuine staying type”.

    Pedigree
QUEENIE has an excellent pedigree. Her Sire, EMINENT, a son of the mighty Frankel, won twice at Group Level in the UK, ran 4 th in The Derby at Epsom, was placed twice at Group One Level, in the Irish Championship Stakes and the Ranvet Stakes at Royal Randwick. His oldest progeny are now aged Two. He dam, QUEEN BOUDICCA, won as a 2yo and ran 3 rd in the Group 3 Matamata Breeders Stakes and is the dam of three foals to race, including ALOISIA, who won the Group One 1000 Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield and the Group Two Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) – notable that she also ran 2 nd in the Group One JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) as a 2yo at Eagle Farm.

    Physical type
A robust, athletic Filly of good size, QUEENIE is physically correct, has a good temperament, has a strong powerful walk and passed her Vet exam without issue – Click HERE to her parading Pre Sale.

    Syndicator’s view (John Galvin)
“Given the success we have been having with staying types, I had requested our selection team of David Ellis, Mark Walker and Marcus Corban to select a Filly with a nice pedigree page and with the physical characteristics to develop into a nice stayer. When they bought Lot 446 to my attention and I saw that she was a half sister to the Group One Caulfield Guineas winner, ALOISIA, I thought we were no show to secure her within our budget of $120k, but remarkably, she was knocked down to our bid of just $75k – sometimes we get lucky.”

    Trainer’s view (Mark Walker)
“Lot 446 really caught my eye when I was doing Video inspections – she is a good sized filly with a lovely athletic walk – her Sire Eminent is a well performed son of Frankel and while he has yet to make his mark as a Sire (his oldest progeny are just 2yo’s) he is throwing a lovely type of horse. This Filly’s half sister, ALOISIA (by Azamour) was good enough to win the Group One Caulfield 1000 Guineas over 1600 metres and the Group two Moonee Valley Vase over 2040m, so clearly could get over ground and notable, that as a 2yo she ran 2nd in the Group One JJAtkins Stakes over 1600m, so was very versatile. I expect that this Filly could well race in the Autumn as 2yo, but she will develop into a lovely NZ 1000 Guineas type as a 3yo and I would also expect her to be a genuine Oaks type of Filly in the Autumn of her 3yo year – she represents great value at $75k, I thought she would make double that.”

    Selectors view (David Ellis)
“Re Lot 446, firstly I have a lot of respect for Eminent as a Stallion – his progeny are yet to make a mark but that is because he is never going to throw 2yo types – they simply need more time. As a racehorse he was very competitive among the best of his age group in both the UK and Australia – we have two Eminent 2yo’s in the Stable right now and Mark Walker thinks a lot of them both. His Sire line of Frankel, Galileo and Sadlers Wells is one of the greatest lines of all time and this Filly has a double cross of Danehill as well for good measure. This Filly’s pedigree page on the dam side is also outstanding – Queen Boudicca is the dam of ALOISIA, the winner of the 1000 Guineas (Group One) at Caulfield, an incredibly hard race to win, she also won the Moonee Valley Vase (Group 2) over 2040m and was placed in other Group races as well. The 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th dams all threw Group winners. The Filly herself presents as a strong, well developed type who is a great mover – she clearly is going to get over ground as an older horse and I thought she was exceptional buying for just $75,000.”

    Ongoing Preparation

Mike Moroney - Lot of Zabeel about this filly, she is a gorgeous walking filly and really glided over the ground - we just had to buy her!  Mike has trained the sire Alabama Express to win a Group 1 race.  She's a cracker out out of a high class European family.

Paul Moroney saw a mix of speed and stamina in this filly and thinks that she could one of the better chances he saw at Karaka to train on and be an Oaks contender.

By promising sire Time Test had a lot of her paternal grand sire Dubaiwi about her. Dubaiwi is one of the most pre-potent stakes producing stallions in the world today. Selected by the international Bloodstock professional Paul Moroney. This Time Test-Pure Lorde filly has good size and scope and is well balanced. She is well muscled throughout her body and has good forearm length. She has a strong hip and is well-coupled through her body and neck, into a nice head. Everything ties in very nicely.

Her walk is smooth and efficient. She has a good eye, and everything this filly does is with purpose and control. Her environmental awareness is very good. She targets forward very well and has a spark of competitive nature just under the surface, ready to be called upon.

She has an elite sensory system that allows her to move through the environment fluidly. The mental operating system she possesses should allow for full maximization of physical potential.

She has been nominated to the 2024 Karaka Million Series and enrolled in the Pearl Series.

    Price: On application

By promising sire Time Test had a lot of her paternal grand sire Dubaiwi about her. Dubaiwi is one of the most pre-potent stakes producing stallions in the world today. Selected by the international Bloodstock professional Paul Moroney. This Time Test-Brannickers filly was a particularly good mover using both her front and hind ends. She hails from one of New Zealand’s best families which goes back to the “Blue Hen” and NZ Racing Hall of Fame inductee Sunbride, which is the filly’s fifth dam.

She is well put together, with very good overall balance and a great hindquarter. Her distance target focus looks very good, and her sensory lead changes are smooth. We see a strong psychological and behavioral base here for athletic development. She has been nominated to the 2023 Karaka Million Series and enrolled in the Pearl Series.

Time Test had a successful 2YO season and has broken the Royal Ascot 2000m track record at his second 3YO start. His deeds earned him a Timeform rating of 125. Time Test now has the almost unheard-of statistic of 25% stakes performers to runners, with 3 Karaka Million runners in 2022, surely he is adding excitement in the New Zealand Thoroughbred blood.

This colt has grit and intensity in his eye. He stands over a lot of ground with his scopey, balanced body. He has a big walk and moves strongly into forward space with good fluency. He exudes emotional energy almost all the time, but he is not wasting it. Confident and target focused, he is slightly physically expressive, with a moderate to fast rhythm. He reminds us of other good colts we have seen from his sire line (War Front) who were strong sprinter/milers at age two and three. This is a naturally athletic psychology that often expresses as the speed type at the racetrack. He has been nominated to the 2023 Karaka Million Series.

His sire U S Navy Flag was European Champion 2YO and Group 1 winning sprinter at 3. His Dam is sired by NZ Champion stallion Zabeel, out of a female family with multiple black-type winners and placegetters.

The Time Test-Camillino filly has great hindquarters and big ears with deep, dark, competitive eyes. This classy filly is well-muscled and has a nice strong walk. She exhibits signs of a high-level sensory system that allows her to move with smooth, purposeful efficiency. Rhythm is moderate but edgy. Body control is excellent. Her ability to interpret and assimilate to new environments is very promising. She is focused and target oriented. An incredible pedigree - don't miss out!

Named Pharaoh’s Dream, this beautiful filly is from a STUNNING international family. She’s a daughter of Kentucky Derby winner American Pharaoh - leading first Season Sire in USA/Canada in 2019 and her dam, Revise (USA) is out of Harpia – a full sister to the legendary Danehill.

The mating is a 20/20 match on G1Goldmine - their highest rating.

It’s a glittering pedigree page filled with black type winners. Revise is already the dam of the good winner of two races in Australia, Intimidating (by Sebring).

Raised on the lush paddocks of the world’s best thoroughbred nursery – New Zealand’s Waikato – this filly oozes quality and potential. She’ll be trained by top trainer Andrew Forsman at Cambridge and if you want a great looking filly with a superb pedigree and residual value as a broodmare that you and your friends can have plenty of fun with - AND at a very affordable price - she’s hard to go past.

DON'T MISS this superb filly with excellent residual value - contact us now to receive your PDS.

Trainer Andrew Forsman (3rd March 2022)
“She’s a very nice filly and she’s had the benefit of being raised here in the Waikato. I love the American Pharaohs and we don’t often see an outstanding international pedigree like this. I’m really looking forward to her joining the stable and working with her to bring out her very best."

    Breeding:
El Roca x Agent Ziva (Savabeel)
    Trainer:
    Mike Moroney and Pam Gerard
Price: 1% Share = $1,899 (covers all costs until the 30th of September 2022).  On-going costs of $36 per month from the 1st of October 2022 (covers all training costs) per 1% share.

Lot 71 from Book 1 of the yearling sale. From the up and coming Fastnet Rock stallion El Roca who is already turning heads with the progeny he is leaving, El Roca is producing sprinters and staying types. This girl is a very athletic filly out of a Savabeel mare (Agent Ziva) and has a great deal of Savabeel about her – she has the colouring and the way they move.

She gets over the ground, covers the ground, and looks to Paul like as though she will be an Autumn 2yo and make up into a lovely filly to have a crack at something like the 1000 Guineas.

This filly is a half-sister to our very good mare Tokorangi who now races in Australia and based at the Ballymore Stable in Flemington. Savvy Racing has achieved Group success with Tokorangi and we feel this filly will give her owners every opportunity of the same success.
