In 2006, David & Heidi Greene purchased a small agistment and pre-training farm at Tahuna. Five years of hard work and tough lessons later, the frustrations of struggling to give the racehorses the best opportunities had got the better of them. Champagne Racing is a boutique training stable based at Riccarton Park, Christchurch, under the care of established trainer Anna Furlong.
Anna prides herself upon treating and conditioning every horse as an individual, believing the maintenance of smaller numbers allows the best opportunity for each to thrive. Anna’s qualification in vet nursing offers a unique perspective in the daily care of our horses, while they also enjoy regular physio treatments during the busy racing season.

Sport of Kings Syndications is a small, friendly South Island operation run by Deb Kingsland. Deb has had a lifetime of experience breeding, riding and racing Thoroughbreds. After 49 years with the New Zealand Defence Force, Gary Clark has recently retired and is embarking on a new chapter driven by his lifelong passion for thoroughbred racing.
Sport has always been a major part of Gary’s life, particularly cricket within the Defence community. He also had the privilege of managing New Zealand’s first Invictus Games team to London in 2014. His Defence career included operational service in the Sinai Peninsula and a posting to the New Zealand High Commission in Canberra.
Gary’s passion for racing began at an early age, inspired by his father, a blacksmith and keen racing enthusiast. A passionate racegoer and owner, Gary has successfully managed small family and friends syndicates since 2012.
As an Authorised Syndicator, Gary’s goal is to make racehorse ownership accessible, affordable and enjoyable. His focus is on leasing quality fillies from leading New Zealand studs and creating small syndicates in the lower North Island.
