    Gender:
    Filly
    Age:
    Yearling
    Breeding:
    Time Test x Brannickers
    Trainer:
    To be decided
    Price: On application

By promising sire Time Test had a lot of her paternal grand sire Dubaiwi about her. Dubaiwi is one of the most pre-potent stakes producing stallions in the world today. Selected by the international Bloodstock professional Paul Moroney. This Time Test-Brannickers filly was a particularly good mover using both her front and hind ends. She hails from one of New Zealand’s best families which goes back to the “Blue Hen” and NZ Racing Hall of Fame inductee Sunbride, which is the filly’s fifth dam.

She is well put together, with very good overall balance and a great hindquarter. Her distance target focus looks very good, and her sensory lead changes are smooth. We see a strong psychological and behavioral base here for athletic development. She has been nominated to the 2023 Karaka Million Series and enrolled in the Pearl Series.

Time Test had a successful 2YO season and has broken the Royal Ascot 2000m track record at his second 3YO start. His deeds earned him a Timeform rating of 125. Time Test now has the almost unheard-of statistic of 25% stakes performers to runners, with 3 Karaka Million runners in 2022, surely he is adding excitement in the New Zealand Thoroughbred blood.

    Gender:
    Colt
    Age:
    Yearling
    Breeding:
U S Navy Flag x Catch Your Idol
    Trainer:
    To be decided
    Price: On application

This colt has grit and intensity in his eye. He stands over a lot of ground with his scopey, balanced body. He has a big walk and moves strongly into forward space with good fluency. He exudes emotional energy almost all the time, but he is not wasting it. Confident and target focused, he is slightly physically expressive, with a moderate to fast rhythm. He reminds us of other good colts we have seen from his sire line (War Front) who were strong sprinter/milers at age two and three. This is a naturally athletic psychology that often expresses as the speed type at the racetrack. He has been nominated to the 2023 Karaka Million Series.

His sire U S Navy Flag was European Champion 2YO and Group 1 winning sprinter at 3. His Dam is sired by NZ Champion stallion Zabeel, out of a female family with multiple black-type winners and placegetters.

The Time Test-Camillino filly has great hindquarters and big ears with deep, dark, competitive eyes. This classy filly is well-muscled and has a nice strong walk. She exhibits signs of a high-level sensory system that allows her to move with smooth, purposeful efficiency. Rhythm is moderate but edgy. Body control is excellent. This filly has the perfect combination of speed and stamina in her pedigree. We have been watching the Time Test yearlings and he is certainly leaving some smart looking individuals, he's already had three stakes' winners in Europe.

We thought she was the pick of her sale and had to spend a little more for her than we intended but it was the right decision. She smacks of promise, and we will start breaking her in very soon.

A stunning filly, by an exciting young sire, out of a Pins mare, our of a Zabeel mare - just perfect! Her pedigree suggests she will be an autumn two year old who will train on to be a lovely three year old to target the NZB Filly of the Year series.

There is very good Australian form throughout her family and with her physical appearance and conformation, she looks set for an exciting future.

  • Te Akau Racing

    Gender:
    Colt
    Age:
    Yearling
    Breeding:
    Almanzor x Respin
    Trainer:
Mark Walker, Te Akau Racing, Matamata
    Price: On application

Almanzor is one of the most exciting young stallions to shuttle to New Zealand in the past decade. The European Champion Three year Old, he claimed that same title in Ireland and France - he was some racehorse! We can't get enough of him.

Every Almanzor we have in the stable is showing us plenty - just think of Dynastic - this year's Karaka 2YO Million winner, our 6th KM in a row! We thought he was as good an Almanzor as you would find at Karaka and fell in love with him, and he's out of a stakes winning mare too - he's her first foal and we have had massive success with first foals.

Athletic, a great mover, he has substance and class - X factor!

There is so much to love about this filly, and Not A Single Doubt is another who knows how to leave a Golden Slipper winner. He has certainly established himself as one of the elite stallions in Australia with over 2300 winners, 150 stakes' winners and over 20 Group 1 winners. She is out of a More Than Ready mare and as a damsire he is scorching the earth with over 3800 winners including 250 stakes winners, 50 Group 1's.

This girl looks a ready-made two year old to our eye, a natural, early runner - certainly another to target the Karaka Million.

A powerful yet elegant filly she boasts a hugely rich pedigree on her dam side - watch those girls in her family roar. She also has a great line up of sires in her pedigree - her residual future value looks assured.

You can't have enough Savabeel's and according to Mark Chittick of Waikato Stud, no-one has the record with Savabeel's like Te Akau does. Think Group 1 winners Probabeel, Sword of Osman, Amarelinha, Hall of Fame, Cool Aza Beel, Embellish, Savy Yong Blonk, Noverre, Shillelagh - all Group 1 winners, all purchased by David Ellis and trained by Te Akau.

This Savabeel colt was an absolute steal, flew totally under the radar. He didn't even cost what it would have cost his breeder to breed him and get him to the sale - terrific buying! We are massive fans of Champion Sire Savabeel and we know how to train them, as our record shows.

A strapping colt from a truly international family that includes a Champion 2YO Male in France in 2020, the world is his oyster. You won't find a better bred Savabeel for this price anywhere.

A son of Champion Australian sire Exceed and Excel, who has already left Golden Slipper winner Overrerach and top racehorses like Guelp and Bivouac, this colt is a ripper. Exceed and Excel has already left over 5000 winners and 325 stakes' winners including 32 at Group 1 level.

This colt is very typical of his sire - he's a great bodied colt, with a lot of natural strength, good bone and is very correct. His grandam is by the mighty Zabeel and this gives immeasurable influence in the dam line of any pedigree! He's a nice running horse and does look a Karaka Million type for sure.

We can't get enough of Zoustar fillies - we bought two at Karaka and this filly really picked herself. She caught our attention from the minute the team first inspected her and was on our "must buy" list.

Like all the yearlings we buy, her vet report ticked every box. This filly strikes us as just the type to be at the races early and she has just the best, relaxed, laid back attitude, it won't surprise us to see her scoring early goals - another that is well suited to a Karaka Million target!

Watch her videos, see her step out in confident, smooth as silk style - she's a beautiful, loose walker with a ton of quality and substance.

We are big fans of the Justify - what an incredible racehorse he was - US Triple Crown Winner, USA Horse of the Year, 2018 Equal leading Three Year Old Male in the World over the mile. There was only a handful of his yearlings at Karaka and we believe we bought the two best - this filly and a colt (for $500,000) who is all sold. David also absolutely loves Fastnet Rock as a broodmare sire and he's really nailing it!

This filly is closely related to Te Akau sprinter Need I Say More who recorded six of his seven wins in stakes' races before being sold to Hong Kong. The death of this filly's family is enormous with star racehorses such as Miss Scarlatti, Crimson, Abidewithme all incredible talents.

She looks precocious, early maturing - Karaka 2YO Million here we come!!

Girls, Girls, Girls - almost completely subscribed - this is a syndicate for the Ladies with special events and some wonderful surprises planned - sorry Gents - this girl is not for you!

We just loved this girl's pedigree and were very impressed with her on type - she stood out as a fluid mover, strong and sexy and a swagger when she walks - a whole heap of class like she really knows who she is!

That's what Karyn (Fenton-Ellis MNZM) ordered and we have delivered for her Ladies' Syndicate.

Boys just want to have fun??!! A slice of this colt has been claimed by Boys Get paid and they KNOW how to have fun, you will enjoy racing alongside this passionate brigade.

A lot of buyers were after this colt and it's easy to see why. Nicconi is also the sire of superstar Australian Group 1 winner Nature Strip and he is going great guns as a stallion. he leaves well built, strong types who want to get to the races and get the job done.

We've bought top class colts from this farm eg Darci Brahma and Burgundy and this will could be the next. He's got size, scope and presence and looks like he will get up and running - but will get over ground as an older horse in our view. There's even a 24x winner in his family who was Champion USA Sprinter so we think he will be very versatile.

When David Ellis saw this filly he was determined to chase her down and bring her home, and we were delighted that we bought her under our budget.

This filly has a lot of class about her, real presence and comes from a terrific New Zealand family.

Her sire was incredible when winning the 2013 Cox Plate a a Maiden before going on to show it was no fluke claiming the Group 1 Australian Guineas and being named Champion 3YO in Australia. He's doing a great job at stud and this was his only yearling at Karaka.

She will develop into a beautiful staying filly and has the physical make-up to see her running as a two year old in the autumn and training on to be a high class, classic three year old. She's exactly the type to chase Te Akau's 9th NZB Filly of the Year title - we are the only stable to have trained more than two Fillies of the Year, we know what it takes to prepare and succeed with these types of girls.

Introducing a big, strong, strapping son of dual Group 1 winner Kermandec - the only sire to win two major races during Melbourne Cup Carnival week.

This outstanding individual stands out - handsome, muscular, he's a beautiful mover and we gave him top marks.

Kermadec is really doing the business at stud, with the likes of 4xGroup 1 winner Montefilia downing the superstar Verry Elleegant in early March, and his Hong Kong son Running Glory winning three major races in early 2022.

Te Akau knows all about this family - we bought and trained close relative, dual Group 1 winner and now sire Xtravagant to a 8.5 length win in the group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas. This is very much a colt in his image, and looks like a two year old type who will develop into a top class three year old. He's all class.

This colt was exceptional buying, great value. By another son of sire sensation Deep Impact, Satono Aladdin won the highest rated mile in Japan, running a phenomenal time. We have another Satono Aladdin colt in the stable called Kabugee and we really rate him as a very progressive racehorse.

He's a flashy looking colt, brimming with natural athleticism and really takes the eye.

He certainly looks a two year type and we will be targeting the Karaka Million with him, a race we have won for the past six years in a row.

We were dead keen to secure this filly by a freshman sire, himself by Deep Field who is one of the most dominant stallions in the world, and a mega sire from japan. We all know the toughness of Japanese bloodlines, we have seen what the Japanese bred horses duo in Australia in the major races.

Her immediate family is flying including Explosive jack who was a triple Group 1 Derby winner in Australia last season and Vin De Dance, the Group 1 NZ Derby winner.

Rich Hill boss John Thompson said: "it's very exciting she is going to such a great stable as we've always rated her very highly!"

Gai Waterhouse was the underbidder and you can see why - she's all quality and looks an autumn two year old who will shape as a beautiful Spring three year old.

This Filly by Merchant Navy (now given the stable name “ZOI”) was selected by the Fortuna and Te Akau Trainer, Mark Walker, from the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale held in Melbourne.

Mark had been working on a brief provided to him by Fortuna Racing’s John Galvin to select a nicely pedigreed, physically correct Yearling filly, who could potentially make a 2yo, but had the scope to develop into a quality 3yo and older horse. As always, Fortuna had set a budget – this time of A$70k. Mark had identified three Fillies to target- all were vetted and passed with no issues. The sale was strong, however this Filly was the first of our three to go through the ring and we were able to secure her for budget – a satisfying result.

    Pedigree
ZOI possesses a very good pedigree. Her Sire, MERCHANT NAVY is a son of the exceptional proven Stallion, FASTNET ROCK. MERCHANT NAVY was an outstanding performer on the race track winning seven times, was unbeaten as a Two Year Old with three wins and then winning Two Group Ones as a 3yo, firstly the Coolmore Stakes at Flemington (1200m) and then, having travelled to the UK to race, the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot (1200m). He also won the Group 2 Greenland Stakes (1200m) at the Curragh in Ireland. Regarded by several good judges as the fastest son of Fastnet Rock, his oldest progeny are Two Year Olds and he has 2 winners to date from just 8 runners

ZOI’s dam is PINDARA (by Star Witness) was a well performed racemare winning 4 times at a distance range of 1000m to 1400m from 10 starts – she is from a strong, multigenerational winning family

    Selector’s view (Mark Walker)
“I have been watching the progeny of Merchant Navy on race days and trials and I note that they are always finishing strongly, hinting that they will get better with time – I was particularly taken with this Filly’s physical attributes – very strong through the shoulder and a lovely walk – I think she can be an early runner, but has the scope to train on as a Three Year Old - she represents exceptional value at the price we acquired her for.

I am now back in New Zealand and in the next few weeks will take over from Jamie Richards as Head Trainer for Te Akau Racing in NZ and I am really looking forward to preparing this Filly for John Galvin and his Fortuna Ownership Team for her racing career.”

    Syndicator’s view (John Galvin)
“As always, we like to buy to budget and endeavour to find “value” for our clients with our selections, but without compromising quality. This Filly well and truly met our criteria on those fronts. Fortuna is having a great run in 2022 with its Fillies or Mares – four winners to date in 2022 and all acquired as Yearlings using the same “value seeking” techniques that we have applied to the purchase of this Filly

This colt by Merchant Navy was selected on behalf of Fortuna by the Te Akau Selection Team of David Ellis, Jamie Richards and Mark Walker assisted by Joe Walls and Marcus Corban from the NZ Bloodstock Yearling Sale held at Karaka in New Zealand in early March.

David and his team had been working on a brief provided to them by Fortuna Racing’s John Galvin to select a nicely pedigreed, physically correct Yearling Colt, who would be an early enough runner as a Two Year Old to be a contender for the NZ$1m Karaka Million race run at Ellerslie in late January 2023, but also had the scope to develop into a strong Three Year Old Type. As always, Fortuna had set a budget and the Team identified five likely prospects on Day One of the Sale – we didn’t have to wait long as the first target on the list, Lot 85, the Merchant Navy – Anchovy Colt came in under budget and was knocked down to the David Ellis/Fortuna Racing bid for $60,000. We have given this Colt the Stable nickname “Salty”.

    Pedigree
SALTY possesses a very strong pedigree. His Sire, MERCHANT NAVY is a son of the exceptional proven Stallion, FASTNET ROCK. MERCHANT NAVY was an outstanding performer on the race track winning seven times, was unbeaten as a Two Year Old with three wins and then winning Two Group One races as a 3yo, firstly the Coolmore Stakes at Flemington (1200m) and then, having travelled to the UK to race, the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot (1200m). Salty’s dam is ANCHOVY (by Galileo) – she only raced once but she is a daughter of one of the world’ greatest ever Stallions in Galileo and she is closely related to the Champion European horses, Duke of Marmalade and Ruler Of The World and the well performed Group winners Annus Mirabilus and Norway.

    Selector’s view (David Ellis)
“Merchant Navy was a great racehorse and is an exciting young stallion and this Colt looks to have many of his attributes. On the dam side, he is out of a Galileo mare, who is out of a Storm Cat mare, who is out of a Kingmambo mare and you can’t get better international blood than that – he is closely related to two European Champions, DUKE OF MARMALADE and The Derby winner RULER OF THE WORLD – This Colt looks like he’s going to be an early Two Year Old runner and I gave him a B + when assessing him – he is particularly good buying at the price we secured him for.”

    Trainer’s view (Mark Walker)
“I have been watching the progeny of Merchant Navy on race days and trials and I note that they are always finishing strongly, hinting that they will get better with time – however this Colt looks to be a real precocious early Two Year Old type who can be a genuine contender for the 2023 Karaka Million race. We will look to break him in straight away and have him in for his first Stable preparation toward the end of April”

    Syndicator’s view (John Galvin)
“It is always hard to obtain a Yearling that is capable of being “early” enough to be a contender for the Karaka Million – indeed Fortuna has not had a runner in the KM since Melody Belle won for us in 2017 – we have purchased several yearlings since then that have gone on to win as Three and Four Year olds, but have not been ready as Two Year Olds – this year may well be very different with this lovely Colt – he looks as if he just want to get up and run – and as always, due to our policy of seeking “value” for our clients,, we have acquired “Salty” at a very good price”

An incredible pedigree - don't miss out!

This beautiful yearling filly is from a STUNNING international family. She’s a daughter of Kentucky Derby winner American Pharaoh - leading first Season Sire in USA/Canada in 2019 and her dam, Revise (USA) is out of Harpia – a full sister to the legendary Danehill.

The mating is a 20/20 match on G1Goldmine - their highest rating.

It’s a glittering pedigree page filled with black type winners. Revise is already the dam of the good winner of two races in Australia, Intimidating (by Sebring).

Raised on the lush paddocks of the world’s best thoroughbred nursery – New Zealand’s Waikato – this filly oozes quality and potential. She’ll be trained by top trainer Andrew Forsman at Cambridge and if you want a great looking filly with a superb pedigree and residual value as a broodmare that you and your friends can have plenty of fun with - AND at a very affordable price - she’s hard to go past.

“She’s a very nice filly and she’s had the benefit of being raised here in the Waikato. I love the American Pharaohs and we don’t often see an outstanding international pedigree like this. I’m really looking forward to her joining the stable and working with her to bring out her very best."

Price: 1% Share = $1,899 (covers all costs until the 30th of September 2022).  On-going costs of $36 per month from the 1st of October 2022 (covers all training costs) per 1% share.

Lot 71 from Book 1 of the yearling sale. From the up and coming Fastnet Rock stallion El Roca who is already turning heads with the progeny he is leaving, El Roca is producing sprinters and staying types. This girl is a very athletic filly out of a Savabeel mare (Agent Ziva) and has a great deal of Savabeel about her – she has the colouring and the way they move.

She gets over the ground, covers the ground, and looks to Paul like as though she will be an Autumn 2yo and make up into a lovely filly to have a crack at something like the 1000 Guineas.

This filly is a half-sister to our very good mare Tokorangi who now races in Australia and based at the Ballymore Stable in Flemington. Savvy Racing has achieved Group success with Tokorangi and we feel this filly will give her owners every opportunity of the same success.

Outstanding looking filly by Mongolian Khan, she is physically perfect and she has a fantastic walk. Sire Mongolian Khan is young as a sire but his racing was outstanding and unlucky not to have started in the Melbourne Cup. This filly is out of the Pins mare Evens. Evens is a sister to Ambitious Dragon and a blood sister to Pinmedown.

Savvy Racing was fortunate to have syndicated Pinmedown (Group 2 and Group 3 winner) and we see the ownership group in this filly as having the same fun. She will certainly be aimed for the 3yo classic races and the NZ Oaks and coming from a family with success in staying races (family member Mohaka contested the recent Auckland Cup over 3200m) she would have to be a good chance of obtaining Black Type over the middle distances and then becoming a valuable proposition as a Broodmare.

This filly has a pedigree page full of talent and her purchase price was a complete bargain. Another member of the Savvy Racing team that will be aimed for the classic 3yo races and the ultimate goal of the NZ Oaks.

Her bloodlines indicate that if she was to pick up any Black Type success then she would be very valuable as a Broodmare. Sire Rip Van Winkle has produced the likes of Jennifer Eccles and Te Akau Shark while the dam Zaballet is close to having her first race day success (The Ballet Dancer) in Australia.

An outstanding walking filly with a superb overstep she will clearly thrive over the 1600m to 2400m range.

We are super excited to be able to offer this outstanding filly, she is superbly bred and one of the last chances to be involved with the Iffraaj sire, she was also excellent buying out of the Book 1 yearling sale (Lot 309). The dam Illadore is a race winner over 1500m and by the outstanding sire Lope de Vega.

This filly's pedigree is riddled with staying success and we expect her to be a serious contender for the late Summer 3yo classic races and the ultimate goal of the NZ Oaks. Paul Moroney thought that this filly was one of the best types by Iffraaj he has seen on his travels both here and internationally throughout the years. Paul also saw a lot of her dam sire, Lope de Vega, who has been an international success as a sire.

Such an easy goer with a great attitude and great brain from an international family who Paul feels has Oaks written all over her.

A cracking filly that captured my eye in the middle of last year & has developed into a really smart type. With the sensational start to his yearlings sold in Europe and then also in Australia & NZ, U S Navy Flag progeny have found homes in premier trainer's stables. Our filly will be trained by Richardson Racing Stables who also fell in love with this girl when they saw her at her former home, the prestigious Blandford Lodge.

Without a doubt one of the best buys of Karaka 2022 & KM entry fee all paid up with all eyes towards this target.

MILESTONE was bred in France, a son of the hugely successful Stallion, Mastercraftsman, out of the winning Galileo Mare, Mission Secrete. After winning in France as a 3yo over 2400m, he was acquired in 2020, for a very substantial 6 figure sum, by the high profile Australian racing organisation OTI Racing, who saw him as a potential candidate for the major staying races in Australia. He started 17 times for them in Australia and although showing reasonable form, including a win at Moe and a 2nd at Moonee Valley in December 2021, he clearly was not meeting their expectations as a staying type good enough to contest the Major staying races in Australia and so with new racing stock arriving from the UK, they decided to move him on and offered him via the Inglis Digital site.

Milestone was identified by Mark Walker as an ideal candidate for New Zealand staying races, such as the New Zealand, Wellington and Auckland Cups – Mark’s assessment based on his pedigree and recent Australian form.

John Galvin acquired Milestone from the February Inglis Digital Sale for just A$30,000.

Having arrived in NZ 24th February, MILESTONE is now agisting at Phoenix Park, near Cambridge until the 20th March – he will then go to Waiuku Beach, south of Auckland where he will undergo 4 to 6 weeks of pre-training at the beach ahead of heading to the Te Akau Racing Stables at Matamata, where he will be in the care of the Fortuna/Te Akau Trainer, Mark Walker, who will set him on a path toward the NZ Cup ($250k) at Riccarton in November 2022

    Pedigree
MILESTONE possesses an exceptional staying pedigree – he is by the Irish bred Stallion, Mastercraftsman, the sire of over 840 winners, including 86 Stakes winners. This Coolmore based shuttle Stallion who, sadly, passed away in 2021 at the age of 15, stood for several seasons at Windsor Park Stud in the Waikato, and is best known in New Zealand for the deeds of his Group One winners, The Auld Floozie, St Emilion, Valley Girl and Danzdanzdance. Milestone’s Dam, Mission Secrete (by Galileo) was a winner in France at 2900m, is a sister to the One Thousand Guineas (UK) winner, Miss France and is the dam of four winners, including Mask Of Time (by Holy Roman Emperor) a Group 3 winner in Australia with multiple Stakes race placings. This is an exceptional pedigree with a strong staying emphasis over several generations.

    Physical type
Standing 16.1 hands high and with a weight of 510kgs approximately, MILESTONE is a handsome bay, who walks well, has no vices and has a smooth, economical galloping action. He was fully vetted by the Victorian Vet, Dr Maxine Brain on 10th February – Dr Brain conducted a full physical exam including flexion tests, trot ups, tendon and ligament x-rays and scope and he passed him suitable to race.

    Training/Racing Performance
Milestone was initially trained in France where he had one start as a 2yo and six starts as a 3yo, winning a Maiden race over 2400m at his 2nd 3yo start. After being acquired by OTI in 2020, he travelled to Australia (Victoria) and was assigned to the Training barn of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young for whom he started 17 times in two campaigns. His first campaign of 7 starts brought only a couple of minor placings, but after a good 115 day spell and showing the benefits of acclimatisation, he ran into form in his second campaign with 8 starts over a 4 month period producing a win over 2400m, a 2nd over 3000m, and two 3rds over 2000m and 2200m. He is clearly a type who needs distance to be at his best.

    Trainer’s view (Mark Walker)
“John and I were on the lookout for a European bred staying type that had good form credentials in Sydney or Melbourne, with the aim of acquiring a horse suitable to tackle the iconic staying races in NZ such as the NZ Cup and Wellington Cup. I came across Milestone on the Inglis Digital site and while it was apparent that he was a length or two off the best Victorian Stayers, his recent form over distance trips was very good and, given the current weakness in the New Zealand Staying ranks, I thought he would be ideal for NZ Racing
I am now back in New Zealand and in the next few weeks will take over from Jamie Richards as Head Trainer for Te Akau Racing in NZ and I am really looking forward to preparing Milestone for John Galvin and his Fortuna Ownership Team for his racing career here in NZ.”

    Syndicator’s view (John Galvin)
“Over the last five years we have selected four Irish/UK bred staying types as “tried horses”, Chance to Dance, Leaderboard, Khafeef and No Envy – the latter has yet to race for us but the previous 3 have won at distance trips – this has given us good background experience in knowing what to look for. Milestone has proven he is quite capable of winning races and his form over the distance trips in France and Victoria indicate that he should well be up to being very competitive under NZ conditions. We have not paid a lot of money for this horse and I am looking forward to his syndicate Members getting a great ride for their money. Milestone represents great value at this money for potential investors”

Your first opportunity to get involved with JC Racing and we have an absolute beauty for you! This stunning filly is available to lease, your chance to get involved in racehorse ownership for a fraction of the normal price.

This daughter of Mongolian Khan is out of promising Savabeel mare La Vida Loca who has already produced exciting Australian winner Airclash (Toronado). The best thing about this filly is as a 2 year old, she is broken in and already in the stable, all the fun with none of the waiting.

Speaking of training she's just arrived at the stable of Champion trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, who commented "I’m delighted that Murray and I have been asked to train the 2019 Mongolian Khan x La Vida Loca filly for JC Racing.

I inspected the filly at Wentwood Grange and was very impressed by her - she’s a lovely type, appears every inch a racehorse and is ready to go on with following what was obviously an outstanding pre-training preparation.

Murray and I trained her sire, Mongolian Khan, who was the first horse in history to win the New Zealand Derby, Australian Derby and Caulfield Cup, and training one of his well-bred daughters will be a real pleasure"

This lovely colt looks like he will make a nice sprinter-miler, and a strong and muscular type who we hope to see trial/race by this time next year as an early 3YO.  By VANBRUGH, precocious son of the champion sire ENCOSTA DE LAGO, who has already produced 2YO winner MUSTANG VALLEY Gr3 Hawke's Bay Breeders' Gold Trail Stakes and MISS BALVENIE (18f, Bertolini, Stark South), winner at 1100m in 2021-22.

His dam PSALMS is by the speed sire GOLAN and hails from the very prolific family which includes AERO VELOCITY, Hong Kong horse of the year twice.  PSALMS is half sister to his dam.  This family traces to NIMUE and more recently has produced COVENTINA BAY.
