Rotorua December 5 – Race 8

THE ESPY

Showed real promise as a two-year-old last season and has trialled well leading into this return, pushing the talented Super Photon to a head over 1000m at Avondale. Expect a bold effort fresh.
Riccarton Synthetic December 5 – Race 7

AKENEHI

Beautifully bred Trelawney Stud mare who seems to have inherited some of the family ability. She was an impressive last-start winner during New Zealand Cup Week and stays in the same grade here. She has previously had one start on a synthetic track for a placing.
Pukekohe December 6 – Race 5

KIWI SKYHAWK

Won the Gr.3 Manawatu Classic and Championship Stakes over this 2100m trip in the autumn, and seems to be nearing that form again. Found the line strongly for third over this course and distance last start. He moves up in class here, but the field doesn’t look that much stronger, and he drops from 59.5kg to 54kg.
Trentham December 6 – Race 1

THE DIRTY DEE

Held in high regard by trainer Robbie Patterson, and was a smart winner by three and a quarter lengths on debut at New Plymouth on November 5. She can go on with it.
Te Aroha December 7 – Race 2

HONOR MISSION

Big finish to go down by a head over this course and distance last start, with almost three lengths back to third. Doesn’t need to improve much to win.
