Standout Sectionals - 23 July
Sectional Star of the Week
Race 8 Oamaru, 21 July
Master Mako
This was an outstanding effort by the 5yo. He sat 4 and 5 wide near the pace in the open, then led on the turn and bolted in easing down on the post. The visor blinkers obviously helped and his race time and sectionals were very good. He ran the third fastest last 600m all day and it was over 1600m. He may start in the Winter Cup but he wouldn't want it too heavy. But where ever he starts again, it will take a big effort to beat him.
Sectional Standouts
Race 2 Pukekohe, 21 July
Letsbringthebling
She stepped up to 1600m for the first time and relished her work and ran the fastest last 200m all day to do it! Considering it was 1600 and the ease with which she won, she should cope the class rise. Her grand dam excelled over middle distances.
Race 5 Pukekohe, 21 July
Blondie
She soon led them up and raced away to win easily. Her race time was good and she looks like she will make the jump in class a successful one.
Race 6 Pukekohe, 21 July
Kerbline
He settled around fifth in running and the leader got a soft lead. With 600 to go he kept up a sustained sprint to almost get up and he ran the fastest closing 600m all meeting. With his style of galloping, he can nail a win on a 1.16 or worse track.
Race 3 Oamaru, 21 July
Makabar
After a slow start he came home strongly for 4th but ran the quickest last 600m all day. He looks on target for Riccarton.
