BRUTIFUL LASS
Still a maiden, but collected a black-type placing with this strong-finishing effort in the Listed Castletown Stakes. Made up plenty of ground from well back in the field and ran the fastest last 200m of the race. She’ll be hard to beat back in maiden grade.
Tauranga, June 21
BEAU MILLER
This was not an easy task on debut – all of his five rivals were winners, headed by the now three-time winner Honey Badger. But Beau Miller performed with plenty of credit, making good ground for second and clocking the second-best closing sectionals in the race. He’s another one to watch out for if he drops to maiden company.

CHLOBON
Only 11 days after her winning debut at Timaru, the Vadamos filly produced a bold effort for second here. After being held up early in the run home, she found clear air 250m from the finish and closed off strongly.
Te Aroha, June 22
OCEAN ROAD
Had an interrupted run, but got into the clear late and ran on into fourth with the fastest last 200m of the race.

OUR AKASHINGA
Seemed to be full of running in the straight but didn’t get much room, eventually finishing fifth and 2.9 lengths from the winner. Open to significant improvement with a change of luck.
