Standout Sectionals - 2 July
Sectional Star of the Week
Race 4 Ruakaka, 29 June
Part Time Lover
She was restrained early from the wide draw and they went along at the fastest tempo all day. Then she came the widest and sustained a sprint right to the line for third and ran 33.54 for her last 600m. In the context of the tempo and the race time it was an excellent effort and she must be hard to beat wherever she goes next.
Sectional Standouts
Race 3 Ruakaka, 29 June
Gentian Blue
She settled well three back on the fence and was ridden up 500m to go. They set a moderate pace up front so she did very well to finish third in the fastest closing sectionals of the day for 1400m and further races. She is one to watch out for over more ground.
Race 2 Ruakaka, 29 June
Miss Flower
She wasn't fast away and settled second last. But the way she came home in the fastest last 200m outside of the sit sprint race one, she will be harder to beat over another 100m in two weeks time.
Race 7 Hastings, 29 June
Samoot
She settled nicely in the trail and came home strongly on the fence to run second to a fitter Spencer. Her sectionals say it was an improver's run and she has won second up before in Australia.
Race 3 Riccarton, 27 June
Correction
He settled nicely on the fence then was held up until the 200m. When balanced up he came home hard for second in the best last 200m for second. He is building to a win nicely.
