Meeting Overview

Going: Soft5 (3/11)

Rail: True

The track is currently a Soft5 at time of writing on Friday morning, however, forecasted persistent rain over the next 24 hours could see the track downgraded further into the Soft range, if not Heavy, come start of play Saturday. The rail was out 5m at our last Trentham meeting on 21st October, where there looked to be a clear advantage to those on the inside lanes down the home straight. With the rail back in the true, and likely rain-effected going, I expect all lanes to play relatively fairly, despite the 5m of fresh ground from the running rail.

Best Bet

Race 7 - #4 ONE BOLD CAT (Win)

He jumps up weight and distance 3rd up here, however, he looks the standout in this field. His closing sectionals over shorter distances so far this campaign have been excellent, where he has caught the eye both times late. One Bold Cat’s last start was at the meeting here two weeks ago, where he was huge against the pattern on that day. He will likely land back of midfield from the wider draw (9), which I don’t see as a negative given the speed in the race looks to be even/genuine enough. He looks the best bet on the card at $3.50, I had him marked closer to $2.00 than $3.50 in this.
