LOVERACING.NZ Preview - Ashburton 14 October
Meeting Overview
Going: Soft6 (13/10)
Rail: True
First meeting at Ashburton this season, where the rail is in the true and windy conditions over the next 24 hours should see the track come back to a Soft5 or better come Saturday. Strong north-westerly winds are forecasted for the duration of the race meeting, which will be a headwind in the back straight and tail wind down the home straight. Therefore, cover in running down the back straight could prove vital should the forecast be correct.

Race 2 - #1 TOUGH TIME (Each Way)
Tough Time maps to potentially get a soft lead in front over the 1400m. He does his best racing handy to the speed and there doesn’t look to be any other obvious leaders in the race. Although his two starts this campaign haven’t been overly flattering, Tough Time had trialed well leading in. Given this isn’t the strongest R65 contest, I’m happy to be taking $10/$3.30 about a horse who could prove tough to catch should he find the front.

Race 10 - #9 BETTY SPAGHETTI (Win)
She ticks a lot of boxes here. A very honest horse who has won at the trip and won 2nd up before, she certainly put the writing on the wall when flashing home behind Talisker over 1200m last start. The step up to 1400m should be a big assist and with a decent enough tempo expected early, it should give her every chance to round the field in and score here.
