Race 2 – #7 PRADASPHERE (Win)

Pradasphere was first up for nearly 12 months when running out of her grade in a Saturday R65 two weeks ago as a maiden galloper. Now dropping back to a midweek maiden, Pradasphere looks very hard to beat with only 54.5kg on her back after Lily Sutherland’s 2kg claim. Expecting the tempo in the race to be genuine, with Alpino and Bow Street looking to push forward from their wide draws, giving Pradasphere every chance to run over the top with even luck in running. The $2.80 is a fair price, given a repeat performance of this mare’s first up run at Awapuni would see her winning this in a canter.

Race 5 - #8 STEAL MY THUNDER (Win)

Big fan of the debut run of Steal My Thunder after working hard early and midrace. The wider draw (9) shouldn’t pose too much of an issue, as the early speed she showed on debut would see her crossing many of these. Race rival and favourite, Snipers Dream, did beat her home on debut, however, he was the beneficiary of a much more economical run on that occasion. Happy to be with Steal My Thunder at the $4 quote.

Value Bet

Race 7 - #13 TAD DE ROC (Each Way)

Very nice debut by this filly after getting well back in the running before closing off hard late, in a maiden I expect will prove to be a strong form race. Despite race winner Mr Bully Tee surging hard to win that maiden, Tad De Roc recorded the fastest closing 200m down the outer. The extra 200m and expected genuine tempo will play right into this filly’s hands, $9 and $2.80 is a great each way play for mine.
