Standout Sectionals - 5 March
Sectional Star of the week
Funtonic Race 5 Ellerslie 5 March
A slow start meant he settled 4 back on the fence and had to wait until 300 metres out before he could get clear running. But he closed off in the best sectionals in all categories in a fast race time. He needs a decent surface though.
Standout Sectionals
Brahma Sunset Race 1 Hastings 2 March
This was a very good run at his first attempt over a middle distance. He got back on the rail and they didn't go hard up front so to get so close to winning, running clearly the best closing sectionals of the race, shows that he is ready to win with that run under his belt now.
Double O'Seven Race 2 Hastings 2 March
This well bred 3yo out of the 9 win Boundless, did well to lead and be taken on, then still fought hard for fourth. He had the blinkers go on which seemed to help him focus better. Watch out for him third up and fitter.
Pisco Sour Race 3 Hastings 2 March
She did very well to be 3 wide in the open from the 800m and just go down in a tight finish. She ran excellent closing sectionals considering the run she got so look out for her second up.
Madrid Race 3 Awapuni 3 March
After using a little extra petrol to lead 900m out, she did well to only get run down late by a smart horse in a good speed rating. The side winkers going on helped and is ready to go one better based on that good effort.
