Big run and unlucky not to win in only the second start of his career. He was shut out of a gap and badly blocked in the straight, then regathered himself and finished strongly into second. Seems likely to leave maiden ranks soon.

On a day dominated by those racing on or near the speed, there was a lot of merit in Make Time’s third placing in the Opunake Cup. He had only a couple of horses behind him at the home turn, but charged home in the straight and clocked the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m.

 

 

Oamaru July 20

 

 

Eye-catching effort just behind the placegetters, running home strongly from the back and finishing fourth and less than three lengths from the winner. Ran the fastest last 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m in the race.
