Flew home from last to finish second, beaten by only a head. Ran the fastest last 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m in the race. Maiden win came over 1400m last June after a similarly strong-finishing 1200m placing. Look out for her next start.

Caught the eye with a big late run down the outside to run behind Velocious. He's a quality wet-track galloper (seven wins on heavy) and should be in for a successful winter.

New Plymouth May 24

TAVI ANN

Dropped back to third-last before launching a big wide run before the home turn. Chased hard all the way down the straight to finish second, seven and a half lengths in front of the third placegetter.

Ellerslie May 25

PART TIME LOVER

In only her second start back after close to a year on the sidelines, she motored home for third and was beaten by a short head and a head. A lightly raced mare with real ability, and she handles wet ground well.

Awapuni May 25

BODACIOUS KATE

Putting together a good record on synthetic. She had a tough run three-wide here, but still put in a big effort to be only narrowly beaten by Ka Ying Lucky. One to follow on the Awapuni all-weather.
