Hasn’t finished further back than fourth in this preparation, and produced another eye-catching performance here. After settling third-last, he ran the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m of the race to end up fourth and only three-quarters of a length from the winner.

Te Akau’s promising Embellish filly is a half-sister to stakes performers Cu Chulainn and Irish Red. She produced the best performance of her career so far in this 1200-metre maiden, finishing strongly for second and getting within a half-neck of the winner.

 

 

Hawera, May 6

 

 

Ran in the Wellington Guineas in March, then placed behind the exciting Croupier. He was a beaten $1.80 favourite at Hawera, but was edged out by only a half-head and clocked the fastest last 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m.
