LOVERACING.NZ Preview - Te Rapa 10 February
Meeting Overview
Going: Good4 (09/02)
Rail: True
The track is currently a Good4 as of Friday afternoon, which should be the state of play for the first few races tomorrow. With showers forecasted to get fairly heavy from approximately Race 4 onwards, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the track to slip into the Soft range as the day goes on.
Best Bet
Race 3 - #12 BEA A ROCA (Top4)
$2.60 looks a very appetizing price for Bea A Roca to run Top4 at Te Rapa tomorrow. This mare has shown in her last two starts at Te Rapa that she can sprint very strongly off a strong tempo on a firmer deck at this track, which looks to be the exact conditions she gets again tomorrow. From barrier 6, I expect she will probably land back of midfield, however, with the abundance of speed engaged in this contest, I don’t see that as a negative here.
Next Best Bet
Race 1 - #1 BUTTERFIELD (Each Way)
I thought Butterfield was a much stronger chance in the opening event than his $9 quote reflected. He gets the 2kg claim of Ciel Butler, where he will likely roll forward and look to lead or sit close to the speed – which I expect to be a big advantage early in the day at Te Rapa. He comes into this off a great run last start at Tauranga, where he was strongly supported in the market that day also. He can be hard to catch, as his formline suggests, however, he looks the right price to find out.
