Race 9 Gore, 20 January

Aberlour

This was an outstanding effort by this filly. She ran her first 400m in a strong 23.99 on the pace, and then was able to show real courage to fight back and win after being headed. Her race time was by far the best of the 1335m races and that was only her fifth start.

Race 4 Trentham, 20 January

Roulade

He ran on strongly and recorded the best last 200 metres in a very strong field. When he drops back to R65 grade, he will find the company much easier to beat.

Race 5 Trentham, 20 January

Lady Sass

After giving them all a head start after a slow beginning, she caught the field and ran on strongly for fifth in the best last 200 metres. This sassy lady has talent.

Race 6 Trentham, 20 January

Fancy Like Lass

After settling in behind the speed she got to the outer part of the track. Then with 100 metres to go she changed legs and put in one tremendous burst to get up in the fastest closing sectionals all day. She has struck a purple patch of form and with only 9 starts and 4 wins, she can definitely go on with it.

Race 5 Riccarton, 18 January 

Mogul

Andrew Carston has another nice galloper on his hands when Mogul won in very good fashion for him here. Once he wound up from the back the big 3 year old came home in the best closing sectionals and will appreciate more ground.
