Meeting Overview

Going: Soft6 (15/12)

Rail: Out 6m

The track is currently a Soft6 at time of writing on Friday afternoon. Windy conditions over the next 24 hours should see the track get back to a Soft5 for racing tomorrow. The rail was in the true position at the last meeting here, now moving out 6m from the true position on Saturday. Similar to recent meetings at Trentham with the rail out, I expect the inside lanes may have an advantage over those looking to make their runs wider.

Best Bet

Race 8 - #2 YELLOW JERSEY (Win)

This looks an ideal race for Yellow Jersey to close the card at Trentham. Since relocating to the CD, he has run two nice races in his only two starts this time in, which should have him primed to be potentially even further improved 3rd up. From the middle draw (7), I expect Yellow Jersey may land back of midfield, where he may be relying on some luck in running. If the runs open up for him in the straight and he isn’t having to sustain a sprint out wide on the track, he clearly looks the horse to beat in this field.

Next Best Bet

Race 3 - #6 BLISSFUL BELLE (Win)

I’m willing to take on the short-priced favourite, Sumi, and will be backing Blissful Belle. She does her best racing on, or near the speed, which I think will be hugely beneficial at Trentham on Saturday. If Lisa Allpress can find a trailing spot behind likely leader Deerfield, then I think she becomes the horse to beat in this race, especially if Sumi is settling near the rear of the field. The $4.00 on opening looked a great price, although I’m still happy to play the $3.30 available.
