LOVERACING.NZ Preview - Te Rapa 2 December
Meeting Overview:
Going: Soft5 (as at 01/12)
Rail: True
With showers early in the week and a few days of drying conditions, they have been forced to irrigate the track and it sits as a Soft 5 at the moment. The forecast if for further drying conditions between now and the start of the meeting so I would suggest we will be racing on a Soft 5/Good 4 tomorrow. The rail moves back to the true position which should give every runner a chance here with fresh ground. The last meeting at Te Rapa on 11 November saw the rail out 8m, so the track should be in great order.
Best Bet
Race 1 - #2 CANHEROC (Win)
He is racing in solid form lately and this race shapes as another opportunity for him to run a bold race. He meets Roccia 2kg better off here from there last encounter and the 2400m at Te Rapa should suit the horse. Leading rider Joe Doyle takes the reins and from gate 2, he will have every chance to find a nice spot in the run and present late. It is an even field for this grade, but I am keen to stick with a horse who has been stringing together some top runs of late.
Next Bet
Race 7 - #3 EL VENCEDOR (Each Way)
Another consistent galloper who really deserves a stakes success. He was extremely brave last start when going down a small margin to a very talented galloper in Habana and will drop back to 55kg here. From barrier 1 he should get an ideal run-on speed and the services of a leading rider in Joe Doyle are a big tick. He has performed well in fields with more depth than this and if he can reproduce some of his best, he will score here.
