LOVERACING.NZ Preview - Te Aroha 29 November

28 November 2023

Meeting Overview:

Going: Soft5 (as at 28/11)

The track is currently rated a Soft5, with 57mm of rain falling in the past 7 days. Given there is rain forecast between now and the start of the race meeting, I suspect the track will start the day in the Soft7/Heavy8 which should provide a lovely surface with a touch of give for all horses. The rail is out 7m after the first Te Aroha meeting back where plenty of rain fell and the track took a bit of a beating. This is likely to favour on speed runners.

Best Bet

Race 9 - #1 WALLEN (Win)

He’s gone close but is yet to score that elusive maiden win. With form behind Adam I Am on debut and a placing on a premier day last start, his best should see him gain his first raceday win here. He will get back and need luck as his racing pattern requires, but Ryan Elliot knows the horse well now and the rise to 1600m looks like it is ideal for the son of Tarzino. He is short, but he deserves to be as he looks like a horse who will win a few races.

Next Bet

Race 3 - #2 MR MOZART (Each Way)

He was unlucky on debut and ran on nicely last start behind a good one. He has drawn nicely and should be able to find a spot near enough to the speed in the run. Rising to 1400m is the big key in this event for him and I am happy to play him each way at $7 & $2.50.
