LOVERACING.NZ Preview - Te Rapa 11 November

Meeting Overview

Going: Soft 5 (10/11)

Rail: Out

The track is currently a Soft5 at time of writing on Friday morning, which should see it come up a Good4 for the duration of racing Saturday. The rail was in the true position at the last meeting here on 21st October. With the rail now going out 8m, coupled with the Good4 track, I expect those on the fence and on speed will prove hard to reel in (pace dependent).

Best Bet

Race 6 - #1 BABYLON BERLIN (Win)

Class mare of this field and I thought she would be far shorter than she has come up for this first up assignment. Babylon Berlin comes into this off the back of an 8-month spell, where she has had a strong hit-out at Te Rapa when winning a trial on 31st October. She was placed here twice at G1 level behind Imperatriz last season, which has stacked up incredibly well. Yes, she is giving some talented mares a considerable amount of weight, however, I don’t think that’ll be enough to stop her. I had her marked well in the red, very happy with the $2.40 on offer.

Next Best Bet

Race 7 - #1 WINNING FOR ALL (Each Way)

Winning For All is now 4th up this campaign, with the blinkers going back on for Saturday. He gets the services of 4kg claiming, Triston Moodley, which sees him get in with 59kg on his back.  His best performances have come on firmer tracks, which he will get on Saturday. The step up to 1300m shouldn’t pose any issues, especially if Triston Moodley can land him an economical trailing position. He looks a nice each way prospect, in what looks a very winnable race for him.
