Standout Sectionals - 12 September
Sectional Star of the Week
Race 9 Hastings, 9 September
Legarto
You couldn't have wished for a better run after a searching campaign last season. She ran home in the quickest closing sectionals of the race and was in front 100 metres past the post. She steps to 1600 metres in three weeks time, and how are they going to beat this powerful mare?
Sectional Standouts
Race 7 Hastings, 9 September
Impendabelle
She got knocked around at the start and blundered. Most horses would have chucked the towel in after that but she picked herself up and ran home powerfully in the fastest last 400 and 200 metres of the meeting for seventh! She is in for a very good season based on that.
Race 4 Hastings, 9 September
Rising Tide
He was lacking early speed and dropped back. But then he remembered who is mother was, Seachange, and finished hard along the rail for third, in the best closing sectionals of the race. When he gets over more ground, he will be a maiden no more.
Race 5 Ruakaka, 9 September
Pearl Of Alsace
After getting back off a solid speed she unwound an amazing finish to just go down, which was backed up by her sectional figures. She ran the quickest closing sectionals of the meeting. Watch out for her next up.
Race 6 Hastings, 9 September
Nod Of The Head
He may have only finished eighth, but it was a great run. He missed the start by a few lengths then made up plenty in the straight running the quickest last 400 and 200 metres, and he was held up late. He goes well second up so watch out for him.
