Plenty of big ticks for Financer heading into this R65 at Hastings over the 1300m journey. Opie Bosson sticks, now 2^nd up, with the blinkers going on and an additional 100m here, he looks to have plenty in his favour to go one better this weekend. I’m not overly concerned about the barrier, as I expect there’ll be plenty of speed in this race early, with the ideal rider in the saddle to find a spot with cover around midfield. The $4.00 looks overs, I priced him sub $3.00 in this.

Race 9 - #9 LA CRIQUE (Win)

Classy mare resuming, having trialed exceptionally leading into this first-up run in the Gr.1 Tarzino Trophy. The barrier draw arguably couldn’t have gone any worse for La Crique, with many of her main rivals drawing far more suitable barriers to her. I think this will lead to her settling behind midfield with cover, which may not be the worst spot for her. La Crique possesses a wicked turn of foot, should she not settle too far back, it’ll take a strong performance to stop her. The $5.50 currently available is okay for mine, however, I expect she could start closer to $7.00 come the jump, which I will be waiting for.
