Race 8 - #10 RUSSIAN SATIRE (Win)

Russian Satire has been a costly mare to follow her past three, having been strongly supported in each run since winning emphatically four back. I don’t mind the wide draw (15) for her, as leading jockey Michael McNab sticks, whilst it should also mean she doesn’t have to race in tight quarters like she has her past couple. The blinkers stay on after being applied last start, whilst switching back to a firmer track may be beneficial, despite her sole win coming on a Heavy10. The $3.80 is a much better price than what has been available for her lately, her best would see her hard to beat in this.

Race 4 - #10 VINTAGE BARDOT (Each Way)

The $10/$3.30 currently available for Vintage Bardot looks well over the odds for mine. She is first up since finishing down the track at Matamata in January, which came off the back of a luckless 6^th at this course/distance on debut. Vintage Bardot trialed up nicely at Te Rapa earlier this month, where she went to the line strongly under a light ride from Kozzi Asano. The wide draw (13) likely sees her getting well back here, however, with the rail back in the true for this meeting I don’t see that as too much of a negative. I had her priced closer to the $7 mark, in what does look a maiden contest well within her reach.
