Best Bet

Race 9 - #6 GALLIVANTER (Win)

Gallivanter’s only career win came at this course/distance on a Heavy10, where she was able to settle handy and fight gamely to the line. The speed in this race only looks to be moderate, therefore a positive ride early from Tegan Newman likely sees Gallivanter handy to the speed without having to work overly hard. Now nearing peak fitness 3rd up, I expect we will be seeing an improved effort from this mare.

Next Best Bet

Race 5 - #9 YOUNG DIVA (Each Way)

This mare was a big improver from her debut to her second start when stepping up in trip as well as moving from the synthetic surface to the Heavy10 going. Now stepping up to 1400m in what will likely be very testing conditions at Rotorua, I expect Young Diva to improve again on her latest performance. The Heavy10 didn’t look to bother her at Matamata, looking for her to power through the conditions yet again here.

Value Bet

Race 3 - #11 JETALAL (Each Way)

In what looks a very wide-open race on paper, I thought there was some value in the price around Jetalal in this 2yo 1230m contest. She’s a 2yo Ocean Emperor filly who has had no public trials leading into this debut run, however, she has won two jump-outs leading into this debut over the last couple of months. If she can bring that jump-out form to race-day, she is worth a speculative E/W bet for mine.
