Race 3 - #2 KANA (WIN)

Kana is dropping significantly in grade for this race, having last been seen running 5th behind some very talented 3yo’s in the north. Prior to that, she was a nose off Petrucci, who has subsequently been placed at Group 3 level last weekend. The addition of side winkers is a big tick for mine, having been seen to over-race and get her head to one side throughout much of the race last start. The 1000m looks like it’ll suit this speedy filly, who has the tactical speed to put herself right on the front end early. She looks to be a filly with plenty of upside who should be hard to beat in this lineup.

Race 4 - #5 EPARAIMA (WIN)

A 3yo Per Incanto filly who comes into this race 1st up, having not been sighted since October 2022, where she ran an encouraging 3rd on the Cambridge Synthetic. She was thrown in the deep end on debut, contesting the Group 3 HB/PB Thoroughbred Breeders Association Gold Trail Stakes, running down the track behind the likes of Best Seller, Sans Doute and Mazzolino. Prior to her debut, Eparaima won a trial with ease on the Awapuni Synthetic, which I expect will stand her in good stead for this maiden assignment.
