Best Bets

Race 1 #6 MANIFIQUE

It is only a small field which means she won’t get too far off the leaders and the pace will be genuine, which will suit. She was super when 3rd last start when being the only runner to make ground in the race. She is a well-bred, progressive staying mare who should have the ability to put this field away.

Value Bet

Race 6 - #10 THE FEARLESS ONE (E/W)
With the speed decent enough in this event, I don’t mind a small each way play on the stayer resuming who recently produced a solid trial. He’s a high-class galloper on his day and holds a decent first-up record. He will want the track to stay on the drier side of things, but if it does, watch for him to close hard late under the 51kg featherweight at a good each way price.

Race 5 - INGLIS SALES CAMBRIDGE BREEDERS' STAKES (GROUP 3)

Key Runners

#6 PETRUCCI

#5 FLAMEBIRD

#1 DENBY ROAD

Summary

The speed will be on early here with #11 MISS ROCKETTE a noted leader drawn 1 and stablemates #7 BOLSHOI STAR & #8 WESTWOOD both front runners who will look to cross from gates 5 & 8. With the speed on, expect to see #5 FLAMEBIRD & #6 PETRUCCI settle near each other in around 5th and 6th in the run.

Betting Strategy

Back (Win) - #6 PETRUCCI

I have been really impressed with her in her three-start career. I like the way she always launches hard at the line and has a strong finish. The pace on early will set up for her to be able to rattle off late. I think she won’t settle as far back as she did when running 3rd last start and with even luck, I can see her storming home late to score here.

Race 9 - TRAVIS STAKES (GROUP 2)

Key Runners

#13 SAKURA GIRL

#1 AROMATIC

#4 TOWN CRYER

Summary

There will be no shortage of pace influences here with a number of runners drawn both in and out likely to have designs on leading. The likes of #4 TOWN CRYER, #11 CIAMBELLA and #12 IRIDESSA all likely to want to settle in or near the lead. This gives Opie Bosson the chance to put #1 AROMATIC to sleep just behind these horses from gate 7, however, cover will be crucial for the mare with a strong staying pedigree. Barrier 1 is a big assist for #13 SAKURA GIRL, the sole 3YO filly in the race. From the draw Michael McNab has options depending on what his counterparts do in the early stages. He can either take up the running, if they allow him, or find a trailing position near the rail.

Betting Strategy

Back (Win) - ##13 SAKURA GIRL

She brings form from one of the best 3YO crops the country has produced in a number of years and the 3YO’s have a top record against the older horses at WFA this season. She has options from her low draw, and I am willing to forgive her Oaks run as she just never got a breather in front which made the 2400m a tough ask. Back to 2000m around a track she has a good record at will be a big aid to her chances. The concern is the gap between runs, but she looked super in a very quiet trial earlier this week.

Back (Top 4) - #4 TOWN CRYER

A horse who is in great form and runs with her heart on her sleeve, I admire her style. Craig Grylls will look to take her forward here and if she can find the front, she can be awfully hard to get past. The 2000m at WFA is a question mark but it is against her own sex so I a willing to give her a chance to run top 4, something she is more than capable of based on ability alone.
