Race 4 - #10 SAVACAT (WIN)

She’s an untapped maiden 3yo filly by Savabeel who SP’d at $10 in the G1 NZ Oaks at her last start, having run an incredible 4th in a Saturday grade R65 two back. 2000m with four weeks between runs should be perfect for her here, if she runs up to her performances pre the NZ Oaks, she will be very hard to beat back in midweek maiden company.

Race 6 - #10 NIGELLA LANE (WIN)

I’m of the opinion that this lightly tried 3yo filly is better than what she has had the opportunity to show to date. Outside of her promising 2nd on debut, she has had to work at both ends of her only two starts since. From the wider gate (9), she maps to land handy to the speed, just off likely leaders #2 NINJA TURTLE & #3 CADA CAMINO. With Michael McNab now engaged to ride, she should get every chance to show her best.

Race 9 - #11 KING’S MOUNT (WIN)

Happy to forgive and forget his last start 7th when clipping heels and nearly falling at the turn. His trial leading into that run was bold, with his prior form being strong enough to go close in a race of this caliber. I don’t believe he appreciated the firmer conditions at Taupo two back, the likely Soft5 track at Matamata and the extra 200m should only aid his chances. Wiremu Pinn knows the horse, having ridden him in two trials, expecting a much-improved performance here.
