#13 THE PRINCIE ONE
#9 FIORE DI CAMPO
Summary
A dash for the 2YO’s over 1200m here and on exposed form there appears to be plenty of early speed from a variety of barriers. The likes of #2 THERE GOES MY HERO and #7 APRILLIA are likely to head forward from wider gates, meaning a good tempo to give the best horse a chance to win.
Betting Strategy
Back (Win) - #13 THE PRINCIE ONE
There is no real value here but she is a horse with plenty of hype surrounding her debut. #13 THE PRINCIE ONE is from a blue blood family of NZ racing and what she has shown at the trials to date suggests she has the ability to match. Opie Bosson should have every opportunity to find a nice stalking spot from gate 6 and if the word is right, she should be accounting for this field on debut. Especially, considering she is already at $9 in the Group 1 Sires Produce next month, a race she isn’t yet nominated for.
Race 5 - NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES
Key Runners
#6 GIRLS LIGHT UP
#7 NIGELLA LANE
#11 CLAIRIERE
Summary
The speed looks genuine enough in the event with the likes of #1 FELICITY THEN, #4 SWINGING SIXTIES and the race favourite #6 GIRLS LIGHT UP all likely to settle forward. Opie Bosson should be able to give GIRLS LIGHT UP a good run-in transit stalking the speed.
Betting Strategy
Back (Each Way) - #7 NIGELLA LANE
She was brave on debut on the synthetic when we last saw her, chasing home LHASA who has since run 4th in a strong race on Auckland Cup Day. She has to overcome a sticky draw, but Bailey Rogerson should be able to settle her around mid-field and look for cover. The 3kg claim will be a big help and I think she can run on well late at a nice price.
