SOVIET WONDER: Unlucky in first start out of maidens. Shuffled back at a crucial stage and had no space thereafter. Seemed okay on better ground so there’s more in store in the weeks ahead.

METRICAL: Big effort from a two-start maiden to finish amongst far more experienced three-year-olds. One to keep a watch on.

MY DEGREE: Ended up well out of her ground and had no room to work in when full of running. Will get her turn.

VALINOR: Lost for speed when the tempo quickened but very resolute over the final stages. Will be better for the fresh-up run and over more ground.
