Masterton Racing Club was formed in 1872 and holds its race meeting at Tauherinikau in March each year. The Masterton Cup is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a day out with friends and work colleagues! The Club also has training facilities available at its base Opaki Racecourse just 5 minutes from Masterton.
Membership: Annual subscription $45. Includes:
* 1 Members & 1 Guest ticket
* Entry to Masterton Racing Club and Tauherenikau meetings
* Functions are also held in Masterton throughout the year for members
* Corporate hospitality is discounted for members on Masterton Racing Club racedays.

Tauherenikau
Tauherenikau racecourse provides without doubt one of the most picturesque environments in New Zealand. Home to Wairarapa Racing Club, it's set in 110 acres of beautiful native bush, magnificent trees and peaceful surroundings with a backdrop of the magnificent Tararua ranges. Holding several race days a year this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a picnic whilst watching the racing. The racedays are a superb opportunity to hold corporate functions, the racecourse is also available throughout the year for conferences, budget type accommodation is available, and we are a family friendly environment.

Functions: Tauherenikau is a great venue for weddings, family functions and reunions, sports groups and corporate retreats and conferences. Budget type accommodation is available.
Picnic hampers - these can be pre-booked and purchased through the office along with a 3m x 3m marquee (contact office for price list)

Waitangi weekend Tauherenikau Races - February
Featuring the Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes, this is a great day for family and corporates alike at the picturesque Tauhereinikau racecourse. Only 1 hour's drive from Wellington, Tauherenikau is known as 'Wellington's Home in the Country'. A train leaves Wellington at 9.55 am on race morning (time could be subject to change), patrons are bought from the Featherston Railway Station to the racetrack and return free of charge.
Tauherenikau Summer Races - January
Set at one of the most picturesque racecourses in New Zealand, enjoy a day full of fun at the races this New Year. Sit back and relax with a picnic amongst the large shady trees on-course, the kids will enjoy all day free entertainment. This is country racing at its best with both harness and thoroughbred racing on the one day!
