A set of trials restricted in number to around 70 horses will be held at Te Aroha on Wednesday 23 October prior to their raceday a week later.

These will be held over 1100m (chute), 1200m and 1400m (both course proper). In selecting the fields for the 1100m and 1200m heats preference will be given to 3YOs.
