Nominations for the $8.4m Group 1 Lexus Melbourne Cup close 10am Tuesday 3 September.

The 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington is fast approaching, kicking off with Penfolds Victoria Derby Day on Saturday 2 November, followed by Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 5 November, VRC Oaks Day on Thursday 7 November and TAB Champions Stakes Day on Saturday 9 November.

The A$8.4 million Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m) offers eight ballot exempt races, with four of these already run (The Lexus Roy Higgins, The Lexus Andrew Ramsden, the Belmont Gold Cup and Ebor Handicap) and four opportunities remaining.

The next chance for horses to win their way into the ‘race that stops a nation’™ is on Saturday 14 September on Makybe Diva Stakes Day via the A$300,000 Group 3 Lexus Archer Stakes (2500m) which has been moved off the Penfolds Victoria Derby Day program. Nominations for the Lexus Archer Stakes close at 9am AEST Monday 9 September.
