ACCESS TO SADDLING ENCLOSURE
Following consultation with the New Zealand Trainers’ Association & Racing Clubs, it has been agreed that entry to the Saddling Enclosures at all thoroughbred racing venues will be restricted to Licensed Trainers & Registered Persons. In conjunction with this directive, the minimum age for staff to enter these areas is 14 years unless a Stipendiary Steward has granted prior approval. In order to enforce this policy, Licensed Trainers and Licensed Persons must display their official NZTR ID card to gain access to the Saddling Enclosure areas on raceday.

RACEMEETING INFORMATION:

COVID 19 ALERT LEVEL1:
Thankfully, under the COVID-19 Alert Level1 which applies on Saturday Owners, Sponsors, Members, and the Public can attend this meeting as per normal. Free entry applies.

TEMPERATURE CHECK: Jockeys, RIU staff, Clerk of Scales and Club Staff working in the Weighing-Room and Basement area NO LONGER need to submit to a temperature check.

JOCKEYS: Clause 3.3 of the NZTR COVID-19 Emergency Regulations which currently apply require jockeys to provide their own water bottle with their name on it should they require a drink of water at the starting gates. The forecast is for warm temperatures on Saturday so it may be sensible to be prepared for this requirement. Drink bottles can be handed in to the Stipendiary Stewards room where they will be collected by the starter and taken to the start.

SAUNA USE
The following conditions have been reached in consultation with the NZ Jockeys Association and apply to use of the Sauna at Riccarton Park Racecourse.
• There MUST always be at least two (2) people in the Sauna/Jockeys Rooms.
• The sauna is NOT to be used by ONE PERSON in the facility on their own.
• All cars are to be parked out on the driveway NOT inside the ‘Arch Gate’.
• The Jockeys Room/Basement area must be locked when leaving. It is not to be left open under any circumstances.
• Lights and heaters are to be turned off.
• A water cooler is installed to provide drinking water.
• Jockeys using the facilities are responsible for cleaning and tidying the sauna, showers, and toilets after use.

OWNERS PRIVILEGES:
Owners’ privileges are detailed in the NZTR ‘Owners Letter’. Owners are advised that the best parking, in front of the Grand National Stand, is accessed from the Steadman Road entrance. Trainers please make owners aware of this information. Owners are invited to lead winners back to scale and retain the presentation lead.

OWNERS CONSIDER A PRIVATE SUITE:
Due to a late cancelation one Private suite is available for Saturday. If interested ring Kym on (03) 336 0055 or [email protected]

OWNERS PAVILION:
Owners are invited to join the Club and sponsors for a drink before their race in the LOVERACING ‘Owners Pavilion’ situated on the south side of the Parade Ring.

MOUNTING IN PARADE RING:
All Group & Listed races. Owners are invited to join Club & Owners Association representatives and the race sponsors in the Owners Pavilion to watch the mounting in the Parade Ring.

RACEDAY STALLS:
Given the probability of a high number of starters and the resulting pressure on tie-up stalls Trainers are asked to work together in managing the use of tie-up stalls. Please do not leave vacant stalls between you and your neighbour. Any reserved stalls will be released if horses have nowhere to go. Please return horses to the Visitors/Permanent Stables as soon as possible after racing.
Two extra stalls have been created by shifting the Clerks of Course to the Farrier area, eight new outdoor tie-up stalls facing the Grand National Stand have been built and the two small yards have been brought into the area by re-aligning fencing. This creates an additional 12 places for horses resulting in 132 in total.

FLOAT ENTRY: Float Operators and Trainers are reminded that all floats are to enter Riccarton Park through the Steadman Road gate. The Racecourse Road entrances no longer provide access through into the horse float containment area.

FLOAT PARKING: All Floats to use the containment area. Trainers and Float operators are advised that it is a requirement of the Canterbury Jockey Club Horse Containment Policy that all floats unload and load within the confines of the contained Float Park. Horses are not to be unloaded or loaded anywhere other than within this area.

LICENCE DISPLAY: To assist security in ensuring that only authorised people are allowed onto the racecourse and into the raceday stalls area it is essential that all licence-holders and licensed staff wear their licence badges so that they are always clearly visible.
Security do not necessarily know trainers and other licence holders by sight and wearing licence badges so that they are easily seen will prevent any unnecessary embarrassment in accessing the stalls area.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE YOU NEW SEASON 2020/21 LICENCE.
