Didn’t help his chances by over-racing in the early stages then when he did settle behind the leaders had no luck finding space. He beat only two rivals but wasn’t far away at the line and should be better for the experience.

HULA BEAT

Settled midfield but ended up in tricky spot when positions changed and had little room to work in from the top of the straight. Might have been a sign of better things to come.

GENTLE BEN

Settled well back on the inside and had a lot of work to do. Wound up late when finally clear and should have finished closer than third. A maiden win looks imminent.
