Slipper Island looks very well placed in this R75, only carrying 54kg with the country’s leading jockey Michael McNab booked to ride. Although this is his first race start on the synthetic, Slipper Island has won all three of his synthetic trials to date with ease. He will have derived plenty of natural improvement from his first up run, where he had not been sighted since the Group 3 Bonecrusher Stakes back in December 2022. I had him marked closer to $2.50 in this field, therefore the $3 currently available looks over the odds.

Race 5 - #3 GOLDBURG (Win)

This 970m contest looks like it will likely be run at a frantic tempo throughout, with the likes of Ottavio, Aoide, Shampagne Dancer, Farravallo and Super Warrior all being seen to do their best racing out in front. Expecting Goldburg to land behind this leading bunch, where he should be allowed every opportunity to finish over the top of the leaders late in the piece. His latest trial was a great guide, where he looked to be jogging just behind the leaders. Happy to side with the in-form Ritchie/Murray team, who have been a force to be reckoned with at the Cambridge Synthetic of late.
