Born and bred in the Wairarapa's Greytown by brothers Frank and Bruce Robertson, Rising Fast was a seasoned 5-year old when he made the sea voyage to Melbourne in 1954 where he would achieve the infamous 'Spring Grand Slam.' A feat which is yet to be achieved to this day, Rising Fast won the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and the W.S. Cox Plate in the same year.
