Aoife Brennan took a once in a lifetime opportunity when she agreed to travel to with Andrew Forsman's two superstars Mr Maestro and She's Licketysplit, a decision that has provided her with more thrills and experiences than she could have bargained for after a successful day at Flemington where we saw She’s Licketysplit win the Gr.2 Edward Manifold Stakes and Mr Maestro win the Listed Super Impose Stakes.

At only 17 years old and fairly new working in the industry, we wanted to get to know a little more about the young lady at the end of the lead in this edition of 60 Seconds With - Aoife Brennan!

1. Describe yourself in three words

High Maintenance, Friendly, Boujee

2. What is the best gift you have ever received and why?

My first pony marmalade. I had so much fun showjumping her!

3. What is one interesting thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

I played 7’s rugby for about 3 weeks then went into retirement early due to breaking my collarbone on a tackle pad.

4. What three items would you take with you on a deserted island and why?

Tanning lotion because I have fluorescent Irish skin! A lilo to sunbathe on and my hair straighteners.

5. How long have you been working in the thoroughbred industry?

Not very long, I would ride track work for Mum everyday before school during my last few years and have only been out of school for a year now. But with my mother Lauren Brennan being a trainer I’ve grown up around racehorses.

6. What encouraged you to pursue a career with racehorses?

My parents Lauren and Mickey Brennan. Both are heavily involved in the industry with Mum being a trainer herself and Dad being a Horse Dentist and an ex Jumps Jockey.

7. What is the most important thing you have learnt during your time working with racehorses?

You need to work hard to achieve anything in this game and when you do get the results it is very rewarding.

8. What are you most looking forward to during your time in Australia with Andrew Forsman’s horses?

All of it! But in particular Mr Maestro and She’s Licketysplit’s target races (the VRC Derby & 1000 Guineas).

9. Who in the racing industry do you look up to?

I have a lot of respect for anyone who has made it in the industry and been successful because it’s a tough game to be in. But my boss Andrew Forsman has been so encouraging and is clearly achieving huge things already out on his own.

10. What is one thing you would like people to know about the racing industry?

It’s a great industry to be involved in and definitely the most rewarding! You never stop learning either!
