The racing world is mourning the death of one of it's greatest icons in Lester Piggott who sadly passed away over the weekend. Riding his first winner as a 12-year-old, he would go on to become an 11-time Champion Jockey with nine derby triumphs and 4493 winners. In 1980, Lester was victorious in the Air New Zealand Stakes at Ellerslie (Now known as the Gr.1 Bonecrusher New Zealand Stakes) aboard Abre Chene.
