In this edition of 'Trainer Tuesday,' we highlight Cambridge-based training partners Shaune Ritchie and Colm Murray who have recorded 30 wins as a duo.

Both men are widely respected within the industry, Shaune has followed and added to the rich Ritchie family legacy. His father Frank was the well-documented trainer of champion Bonecrusher, who as a fifteen-year-old Shaune was the strapper of.

Shaune definitely inherited the Ritchie ‘way with people’ and has had a successful solo training career, with over 438 wins. His most successful season ever was in 2009/10, where became just the third trainer to win the NZ Derby and NZ Oaks in the same season.

A former jumps jockey in his homeland Ireland, Colm Murray made his way to New Zealand where he found his way to Shaune Ritchie Racing in 2018. He was the proud strapper of Gr.1 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai NZ Oaks winner, Jennifer Eccles in 2019.

The pair recorded their first group success last year when Samantha Collett guided The Good Fight to victory in the Gr.3 Rotorua Cup. It's hard not to marvel at the attention to detail, dedication and history that has helped build such an enviable reputation.
