The Board of New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing calls for expressions of interest for nomination to the TAB NZ Board. The Racing Industry Act provides that the three racing Codes may jointly nominate three people for appointment to the TAB NZ Board. The final decision on appointments will be made by the Minister for Racing, following the advice of the selection panel.

The enactment of the Act and the recovery from Covid-19 open new opportunities for thoroughbred racing to grow and prosper. The performance of the New Zealand TAB and the strategic decisions required over the next few years are critical to that prosperity. It is therefore vital that NZTR’s nomination to the TAB NZ Board has the appropriate attributes and experience to support high performance at TAB NZ.

The attributes which the Board seeks for its nomination to the TAB NZ are:

  • Knowledge of racing administration at a national level;
  • Understanding of the betting industry and market;
  • Experience in technology related to betting, gambling and broadcasting;
  • Experience in sports administration at a national level; and/or
  • Business, marketing, or economics skills.

Expressions of interest, including a cover letter and curriculum vitae, should be received by NZTR at james.dunne@nztr.co.nz by Wednesday 2 December, prior to consideration by the NZTR Board.
