Prior to Christmas the NZTR Board met to discuss the Racing Industry Bill and subsequently provided an initial overview of key clauses which was distributed to clubs and sector groups.  That document can be seen here.  

Yesterday, Dean McKenzie the chair and acting-CEO of the Racing Industry Transition Agency circulated the RITA response to this document (see here scroll to the end of the NZTR document).

What has become apparent is that there are some areas of the Bill where RITA and the codes have differing opinions.

NZTR will be conducting Conference calls with sector groups and clubs on Monday and will also continue to work with RITA and the other codes to see if there are areas where joint submissions can be made.

The final date for submissions on the Racing Industry Bill is 11 February 2020.
