Strangles Directive Effective From Thursday 10 September 2026.
NZTR has issued a new Strangles Directive, effective from Thursday 10 September 2026.
The temporary industry-wide requirements for Strangles-specific temperature declarations, inter-island testing, travel declarations and prior RIB travel approval have been removed.
Horses and properties that are unaffected by Strangles and are not subject to a specific NZTR or RIB direction can operate normally without additional Strangles-specific testing or documentation.
Confirmed cases must continue to be reported immediately to the RIB Veterinary Services Manager at [email protected]. Affected properties must also comply with any testing, isolation, movement or other disease-control directions already in place.
