Strangles Update | 27 July
Clarification – Strangles Requirements
We've had a few enquiries, so to clarify; following the Cambridge race meeting on 29 July, SAA testing is no longer required.
The following requirements remain in place:
- Health Declarations must still be completed for all race and trial meetings and submitted to the RIB, including temperature records (SAA testing is no longer required).
- Immediate reporting of any suspected or confirmed Strangles cases to the RIB.
- Strong biosecurity practices at training centres and racecourses.
- Movement restrictions remain in place for infected properties.
Travel requirements remain unchanged:
- North Island → South Island: Completed North Island to South Island Strangles Travel Declaration and a negative nasopharyngeal PCR test before travel.
- South Island → North Island: Completed NZTR or HRNZ Strangles Temperature Monitoring and Health Declaration, including 5 days of recorded rectal temperatures before travel.
Please continue to report any confirmed or suspected cases of Strangles to the RIB at [email protected].
