New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) acknowledges the ongoing challenges faced by participants across the Central Districts following a period of adverse weather conditions.

 

The Premier racemeeting originally scheduled at Ōtaki-Māori RC carried $640,000 in programmed prizemoney, and abandonments also come at a significant cost for individuals and the industry as a whole. NZTR is assessing options to reinvest in future Central Districts racemeetings to deliver the best overall benefit for participants in the region.

 

In consultation with the New Zealand Pattern Committee, NZTR has also approved the rescheduling of the $120,000 Spring Sprint (Group 3, 1400m) to RACE Trentham on 6 December. While not straightforward, this decision followed careful consideration of race programming, calendar flow and potential impacts on existing Feature races and Carnivals.

 

NZTR appreciates the patience and understanding of all involved as we work to maintain opportunities and prizemoney levels for Central Districts participants through the remainder of the season.
