Before making his mark over the jumps, Kipkeino won six races on the flat, including a Premier race. He then went on to enjoy a successful jumping career, highlighted by his victory in the 2017 Te Whangai Romneys Hawke's Bay Hurdle. Purchased as a two-year-old by Lucy de Lautour with the help of Paul Nelson, Kipkeino became the flag bearer for Lucy's stable and gave her her very first training success. Following his retirement, Kipkeino has remained with Lucy, where the pair continue to enjoy plenty of success out in the hunt field. It is a fitting home for the much-loved gelding, who has been part of the de Lautour family for almost his entire life.
