Rich Hill Stud’s stallion roster was in the thick of the action on both the domestic and Australian fronts at the weekend with She’s A Huster leading the charge.

The gifted daughter of Ace High claimed top honours in the Gr.2 Zipping Classic (2400m) at Caulfield for trainer Grahame Begg and rider Jordan Childs.

Associate sire Proisir was represented by four winners and moved to the top of the New Zealand General Sires’ Premiership while Shocking produced a winning hat-trick, including Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (1400m) hero Here To Shock, and Satono Aladdin also chimed in.

“It was a fantastic weekend for the farm and reflected the quality and power of our stallion line-up,” Rich Hill’s John Thompson said.

Crack mare She’s A Hustler has now won seven of her 11 starts, including the Gr.3 Tesio Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley three runs back, and has yet to finish out of the top two.

The five-year-old was bred by Rich Hill and Greg Tomlinson’s Nearco Stud and was sold through Rich Hill’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale to agent Phill Cataldo for $70,000.

She finished runner-up at Matamata in her only three-year-old appearance for Roger James and Robert Wellwood before relocating to Begg’s Cranbourne stable.

Thompson and Tomlinson previously joined forces to purchase Temolie, dam of Gr.1 ATC Derby (2400m) winner and multiple top-flight placegetter Aeliana.

“When we invested in Vadamos, Greg wanted to buy a couple of mares to go to him and I suggested we go 50-50 in a couple, and when Proisir was coming up we bought Temolie to go to him,” Thompson said.

She’s A Hustler is out of the Bernardini mare Snow Petal, a daughter of the Gr.1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) and former Singapore Horse of the Year Zirna. She was later a multiple stakes winner in Singapore, where she earned Horse of the Year honours.

“We bought Snow Petal at the Gold Coast (A$120,000) to go to Vadamos at the time, and we bred a really good horse called Freeze Frame,” Thompson said.

“He ran second and should have won the Winter Cup (Gr.3, 1600m), but he sadly died after that.

“We’ve also got a Proisir three-year-old filly (Frozen Fortune) out of Snow Petal, who is with Tony Pike, and we sold her brother to Mick Price at Karaka earlier this year for $100,000.”

Proisir’s weekend tally was headed by Vegas Queen, who won the open sprint handicap at Ellerslie in her first appearance since she triumphed in the Gr.2 Wellington Guineas (1400m).

The leading stallion was also represented by Rosehill winner Hyperbolic, a Rich Hill graduate who sold at Karaka for $240,000 and has now won four of her 12 starts for trainer Brad Widdup.

Proisir’s daughter Ploy bolted home by four lengths at Wanganui, while No Party made it a hat-trick when successful at Cromwell, where Satono Aladdin’s daughter Say Satono, bred and co-owned by Rich Hill, delivered her sixth career win.

Shocking’s weekend haul was headed by the Ben, Will and JD Hayes-trained Here To Shock in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes at Caulfield.

It was his sixth stakes success for near-on $3 million earnings and highlighted by his successful hit and run mission to New Zealand earlier this year to land the Gr.1 BCD Group Sprint (1400m) at Te Rapa.

Shocking’s daughter and Rich Hill graduate Lyin’ Eyes broke her maiden at Ellerslie in fine style while Shockus posted her breakthrough success at Cromwell.

“It was a bumper weekend for the progeny of Rich Hill’s proven stallions, even by their own high standards, and we look forward to further success over the holiday racing period and on to Karaka 2026,” Thompson said.
