TAB supporting Daffodil Day at Ellerslie
TAB is once again showing their support for Daffodil Day at Ellerslie’s Proisir Plate meeting on Saturday.
In what has become an annual tradition on the opening day of the Spring Carnival, the TAB Cancer Society Daffodil Day silks will be assigned to a leading runner in each race and if the jockey in those silks returns at the head of the field, TAB will contribute $2,000 towards the Cancer Society, with that figure increasing to $5,000 for the Gr.1 Proisir Plate (1400m).
Horses carrying the TAB Cancer Society Daffodil Day silks:
Race 1 – 7. Pick Of The Litter
Race 2 – 6. Sweet But Psycho
Race 3 – 5. Ortega
Race 4 – 11. Social Climber
Race 5 – 4. Mr Marigold
Race 6 – 6. Storm Front
Race 7 – 2. In Haste
Race 8 – 13. Atmospheric
Race 9 – 7. Navigator
Race 10 – 1. Agera
Adding to the cause, Social Racing has also pledged $500 to the Cancer Society for each win by their runners - Social Climber in the Sistema 1100 and Lollapalooza in the Gr.3 Gold Trail Stakes (1200m).
“We’ve been thrilled to be able to carry on our support of Daffodil Day," said Sam Moncur, the Managing Director - New Zealand for Entain Australia and New Zealand, the operators of TAB.
“The Cancer Society does incredible work, not only for the one in three New Zealanders who will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, but in the research realm where the society is the largest private funder of cancer research in New Zealand.
“In the past 10 years, the Cancer Society has invested over $50 million in cancer research, that has improved the prevention, detection, and treatment of different types of cancer.”
The meeting promises to be an exciting one for racegoers, who will get to witness the first Group One in New Zealand this season, the Proisir Plate, which has attracted a great line-up.
General admission is free and there will be free family entertainment available, including a bouncy castle, swing ball sets and a mini golf course.
Following the racing action, head to the TAB Winning Post to watch the All Blacks take on South Africa.
