Once thought of as one of the most prestigious events on the racing calendar, the Manco Easter Handicap was originally run as a group One race until its reclassification to a Group Two in 2017 and Group Three in 2022. The 2018 running at Pukekohe Park saw local trainer Nigel Tiley pull off an incredible training feat when Megablast came back from a 181 day hiatus to beat home stable mate Brighton in the hands of Michael 'The King' Coleman, and deliver Tiley win number 2 of 3 in the time honored race.
