The Grand Tour returns to Hawke’s Bay for Arrowfield
The stage is set for another exciting Group One raceday at Hastings, with the second day of the prestigious Colliers Hawke’s Bay Spring Carnival taking place this Saturday.
Following a successful opening event at the Tarzino Trophy Daffodil Raceday three weeks ago, stop two of The Grand Tour sees a return to Hastings for Arrowfield Stud Plate Raceday. Featuring a great lineup of entertainment, including an all-ticket access live concert featuring The Black Seeds, supported by DJ sets from Pixie Lane and Hot Mince.
Headlining the nine-race card will be the Gr.1 Arrowfield Stud Plate (1600m), featuring several key performers from the Gr.1 Tarzino Trophy (1400m) held on the first day of the Carnival including third-placegetter and dual-Group One-winner Legarto. The star mare will be joined in a full 14-horse field by fellow elite-level victors in Sharp’N’Smart, He’s A Doozy, Callsign Mav, Pier and Mustang Valley, as well as last year’s winner La Crique back to defend her crown.
Some of New Zealand’s most promising three-year-old’s will also have their opportunity for stakes glory in the Gr.2 AHD Animal Health Direct Hawke’s Bay Guineas (1400m), the field includes several stars of the Carnival’s opening day including Listed El Roca – Sir Colin Meads Trophy (1200m) winner Tokyo Tycoon and runner-up Burn To Shine, and Gr.3 Gold Trial Stakes (1200m) runner-up Chantilly Lace.
Away from the action on the track, Hawke’s Bay will be showcasing the best of spring fashion on Ladies’ Day, staging the glamorous annual Fashion in the Field competition.
