Did a lot wrong in the early stages when settling a clear last, but his final 400m held plenty of promise as he surged through for third. Should have learnt a lot so stay with him.

Te Rapa Saturday May 6

DEVASTATE

That was a good effort for third fresh-up at Te Rapa, especially considering it was 1400m in testing ground. He’s already a Group Three winner and with the benefit of the run he’ll be much harder to beat next time.

Riccarton Saturday May 6

POMANDER

Put out of the money but fifth place beaten four lengths was still a good effort after having to do a lot of work through the run. Best form has been on soft-rated tracks, so keep that in mind when assessing her upcoming prospects.

Awapuni Synthetic Sunday May 7

PAPA SURF

Decent enough performance for fourth of 10 after covering ground throughout. Best effort to date came on good ground, which all adds to him being one to watch at synthetic races coming up.
